The answer to these central questions will help you find the right type of e-bike for you. Basically, we distinguish between the following models:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
City e-bike<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n You travel a lot in the city, live there and want to transport your shopping home with less effort? Is our way to work plagued by traffic jams? Public transport is tedious and overcrowded when would actually rather be on your own?<\/p>\n\n\n\n Our City E-Bikes meet all these requirements and will get you to your destination without having to worry about traffic. Experience the new city feeling of e-mobility with our city models.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Trekking E-Bike<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n The Touring E-Bike, also called Trekking E-Bike, is a companion for all occasions. Whether it’s a slightly longer commute with field and road paths or a leisurely trip to the forest, this bike will meet your demands. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Compared to city e-bikes, trekking e-bikes are more athletic and often have a stronger motor and more battery power. If you are looking for an especially fast e-bike, you will find trekking e-bikes in this category that go up to 45km\/h. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mountain E-bike<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n This is the best e-bike for off-road adventures. Mountain e-bikes carry you nimbly over hills and dale with high stability. Even uphill you can count on speed with the modern, integrated motor and thus benefit from double the riding fun. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The models vary between hardtail and fully, whereas a fully mountain e-bike has suspension on the front and rear wheel. This additional relief is of great benefit in unpaved terrain. The hardtail bike has suspension on the front wheel, but still offers stability and can be used just as effectively on paved trails.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The quality of an e-bike can be assessed by its components. Brands that are known for their high quality and expertise are Bosch and Shimano. Bosch is the leading manufacturer of motors and Shimano is an expert in the area of gears and brakes. If you see these brands as the manufacturers of the motor, gears and brakes, you are looking at a pretty good e-bike in terms of quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Battery power is measured in watt-hours (Wh) and tells you how much energy can be stored. Depending on how long your rides will be and whether there are many energy-consuming hills along the way, you will need more or less power. <\/p>\n\n\n\n If you want to buy a city e-bike or urban e-bike and ride mostly flat routes in the city, a rather low capacity is sufficient. Our models vary between 252 Wh-540 Wh. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Trekking e-bikes and mountain e-bikes require a higher battery capacity than city e-bikes, as they have to cover a longer distance and the motor is subjected to higher loads. Their battery power is 374 Wh-625 Wh in our range. On some touring e-bikes, a second battery can even be fitted to take over after the first one has been used up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n It is important to note that a prediction about the range is very difficult to make and depends entirely on your distance, weight and riding style. Bosch has a calculator that is very helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The power of a motor is expressed in watts (W) and its force in newton metres (Nm). This shows you how much assistance you get from the motor when riding. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Again, flat stretches require less assistance for comfortable relief, while you need a more powerful motor to climb a hill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Our city e-bike models have a power of 30-50 Nm. E-bikes for long distances, rough roads and mountain tours have 45-75 Nm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Not to be underestimated are the brakes. A distinction is made between mechanical and hydraulic brakes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Mechanical brakes work by means of the so-called Bowden cable via brake cable. Compared to hydraulic brakes, this requires more force on the part of the rider to activate them. The hydraulic brake works by means of brake fluid and produces a higher braking force with less effort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n This means that a hydraulic brake is an important must for faster e-bikes, because if you are going fast in traffic, you need to be able to brake all the faster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n When it comes to gears, you can again recognise the Shimano brand as a good quality gearstick. <\/p>\n\n\n\n The more gears you have, the better you will be able to climb hills. However, this is much less important for e-bikes than for normal bicycles. Since you are supported by the motor and do not have to manage everything with your own leg power, fewer gears are sufficient.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Moreover, this does not vary much between the different categories: Our e-bikes all have between 8-12 gears.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There is another point here: there are two different types of gears, derailleur gears and hub gears. <\/p>\n\n\n\n Rule of thumb: the higher the quality and performance, the higher the price. The price therefore varies greatly depending on the technology and components used. <\/p>\n\n\n\n A city e-bike for short and mostly flat routes requires significantly less power and battery capacity, which is also reflected in a lower price.
