How to clean your e-bike!<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After all the rides and excursions this bike season, it’s time to give your e-bike a good clean. Here\u2019s a step-by-step guide on how to get your e-bike sparkling clean again in no time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

1. Preparation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Before cleaning, remove the display, the removable lights (if any) and, most importantly, the battery!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that a high-pressure cleaner is not suitable for cleaning an e-bike. It is very rough and can lead to material wear of the hubs and spokes in the long run. For the first basic cleaning, you are welcome to use a garden hose or, for the gentle, safe option, a bucket of soapy water and a cleaning cloth. 2. Clean the bike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

It’s best to wash the e-bike from top to bottom, so that the dirty water only drips onto the surface and doesn’t undo your efforts straight away. You can also scrub off coarse dirt with a brush. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For places that are difficult to reach, a small brush, such as an old toothbrush, is a good way to get these areas clean. This will make the frame, rims and spokes a lot cleaner. 3. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

3. Chain, sprocket and gears<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Now for the part of the cleaning that scares most bike owners – the chain, sprocket and change pulleys.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To make life as easy as possible for you, we recommend using a cleaning spray that dissolves grease. This is extremely efficient and can be washed off with water after use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In addition, the spray gets into small gaps and grooves. So spray the sprocket, the change rollers and the chain with the spray and let it work as indicated on the package. To then remove the dirt effectively, we recommend a sprocket brush. With the curved, pointed end, you can easily get into the gaps and, in combination with a cleaning agent, get rid of dirt. An old toothbrush will do as well. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

4. Dry & oil<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Dry all parts with a cloth after cleaning and enjoy the success so far! The most important work is now done.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To prepare your e-bike for many more rides, you can now spray the chain, the sprocket, the coupler and the cable guide with penetrating oil. This eliminates squeaking noises, keeps all components well lubricated and ensures a long service life. Finally, you can lubricate the chain with chain oil and wipe off the excess with a rag.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

5 Regular checks<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

As with any vehicle, your safety is paramount. We therefore recommend that you check your e-bike regularly and have it serviced annually. Check for the following: Are the tyres sufficiently inflated? Are all screws tightened? Are the handlebars aligned straight and are the brake pads still sufficiently pronounced?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The service should be done annually so that your bike stays in top shape for as long as possible and no damage occurs due to neglect.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
