Because let\u2019s be real: who wants to freeze on the bike saddle in this weather? We have put together a short guide on how to best store your e-bike over the winter and autumn so that you can enjoy it for a long time to come.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Why good storage is so important for your e-bike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Your e-bike consists of different electrical parts that react sensitively to temperature differences. Proper storage can considerably increase the life of your battery. The frame and wheels should also be stored properly to prevent rust. Long story short: If you store your e-bike correctly, you will save time and money on repairs in the long run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The right storage for your e-bike battery<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The battery is the core of your e-bike and as powerful as it is, it can quickly be damaged by improper storage. When you set up your e-bike for the winter, you should always remove the battery and store it separately &#8211; preferably in a closed room with a smoke detector. Ideally, the battery should be between 50 and 80 percent charged. If you do not use it for longer than 3 months, it is advisable to recharge it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Your battery is very sensitive to temperature differences, which is why it can be affected during the cold season. A room temperature of about 20 degrees Celsius is optimal for your battery. Store the battery so that it is protected from direct sunlight. It is also best not to place any metal objects in the vicinity (e.g. keys or screws). In the worst case, this could lead to bridging of the contacts and thus to a short circuit, which could cause a fire.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The ideal place to store your e-bike<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you have removed the battery, you should move your e-bike to a safe place for storage. Dry, enclosed rooms are best for this. The drier the room, the less chance there is of rust forming on the frame and damaging your e-bike. If moisture cannot be avoided, it is best to cover your e-bike with a waterproof sheet. Remember that condensation can form underneath.
