Besides reflective clothing, your e-bike light is an important factor for more visibility. Find out everything you need to know about the light on your e-bike below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">These rules currently apply in regard to e-bike lights<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Since 1 April 2022, you are obliged to switch on the lights on your e-bike during the day as well. Basically, the following rules apply:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The lights must be permanently attached to the e-bike (including clip-on lights).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The obligation applies to all public traffic areas (i.e. also on dirt roads or bike trails).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>During the day, the lights must only be switched on at the front, but it is recommended that you always switch on the rear and front lights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you ride without lights on, you will have to pay a fine of CHF 20.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Special rules apply to S-pedelecs: Here, the e-bike must have a speedometer in addition to a light. You can find out more about the regulations concerning 45 km\/h e-bikes here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many, but by no means all, e-bikes have built-in lights. Therefore, you do not normally have to worry about this. However, older models in particular may lack lights &#8211; in which case you have no choice but to retrofit them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to retrofit the e-bike light<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Unfortunately, retrofitting the light on an e-bike is often much more complicated than most people imagine. Because:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Most e-bike manufacturers do not offer standardized lights.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The voltage for the light usually has to be taken from the motor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The interface to the power supply often has to be activated by a local bicycle dealer.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The effort involved in retrofitting can range from removing simple parts to completely dismantling the motor. Therefore, even if you feel you know a thing or two about your e-bike, it is always advisable to go to a professional.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which e-bike light is the right one?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>All is well and good, but in the end, there is still the question of which e-bike light is the right one for your bike. In 2020, Stiftung Warentest carried out a comprehensive test of bicycle and e-bike lights. The winner was the LS 760 I-Go Vision from Trelock, which also comes at a rather high price. The Cateye GVolt50 is also good, but not quite as expensive. This light even has a range of up to 45 meters and thus ensures the highest visibility on the road.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A few years ago, the TCS also took a close look at the best e-bike lights and bicycle lights. The e-bike light is only a small part of the whole. Reflective clothing, adjusting your speed to the weather conditions and wearing a helmet further contribute to your safety and reduce the risk of accidents.
